Slovenia made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 having previously entered the Eurovision Song Contest as part of Yugoslavia.
To date Slovenia's best placing in the Eurovision Song Contest is seventh, which it achieved in 1995 and 2001. Whilst Slovenia has not won the Eurovision Song Contest it did win Eurovision Choir of the Year in 2017.
In 1988 the Yugoslav jury were based in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, when they were called to give the decisive last votes of the contest which saw Switzerland beat the United Kingdom by just one point.
