Romania joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994. Romania originally entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 but failed to qualify for the final. The country is famous for the legendary Dracula and its capital city is Bucharest.

Whilst Romania is yet to score a first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, the country has finished in the top five on three ocassions. In 2005 and 2010 Romania finished third in the Grand Final, which remains the best placing for the country to date.
In 2017 Romania scored its first top ten placing in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2010. The country has a 100% qualification record for the Grand Final and in 2006 hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
